Dr Shueh Hwuei Lim (She/Her)
Practice Principal | MBBS, B Med Sc, FRACGP, FARCGP, DRANZCOG (Dip Obstetrics & Gynaecology)

Special interests:

Women’s health, Preconception Care, Shared Antenatal Care, Child Health, First Nations Health, Lifestyle Medicine, Medical Education.

 

Skills:

Insertion/removal of intrauterine device (Mirena IUD), insertion/removal of contraceptive implant (Implanon), Shared Antenatal Care Provider (Royal Women’s Hospital, Mercy Hospital, Monash Medical Centre), Minor skin biopsies/excisions.

Hwuei hails from Penang Island in Malaysia. She completed her medical degree at the University of Melbourne, subsequently becoming an intern, resident and clinical educator at Royal Melbourne Hospital.

 

Her interest in General Practice was sparked in 2010 during a secondment to outback Northern Territory. Since then, she has completed her General Practice training and a Fellowship of Advanced Rural General Practice in Albany and remote Aboriginal communities in the Kimberley, WA. She has also continued to develop her expertise in Women’s Health and Reproductive Health with the completion of a Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. She is currently an accredited Shared Antenatal Care Provider with Royal Women’s Hospital, Mercy Hospital and Monash Hospital.

 

Hwuei returned to private General Practice in Melbourne in 2016 to be closer to her family. She maintains her interest in First Nations Health with short stints back to the Aboriginal communities in Balgo, Billiluna and Mulan and by being involved in the education of medical graduates in the field of remote medicine.

 

Outside of medicine, she enjoys exploring the outback with her partner, playing with her niece, upcycling old goods and photography.
